Drug Prevention:
"Prevention is better than cure" is the rule of thumb of SDPRD. Though it is an assiduous task to fulfill especially among masses with no education background, yet our organization feels it inevitable and the only solution to bringing an end to narcotics. As evident from the organizational chart most of the staff belongs to the heartland of Tirah Valley where maximum opium poppy is being cultivated. This gives an added advantage of easy accessibility to the remotest areas without being taken as strangers by the locals, besides obtaining accurate data before and after the agreements are made. Following modus operandi will be adopted:
1.
Incentives in shape of offering more attractive alternatives for
cultivation, keeping in view the soil and weather conditions.
2.
Providing assurance for sharing the loss, if any, in the first crop in order
to motivate the reluctant farmers.
3.
Influencing the masses with the help of their elders e.g., clan chiefs (Maliks),
family representatives (Spin Giray) etc. This will also help maintaining
the required deterrence to violations.
Simultaneously
with prevention, awareness among the opium growers and users stands a predominant
factor in curbing the drug abuse. Following measures in this regard will
be taken:
Rural:
Since proliferation of narcotics is totally against the precepts of Islam, therefore religious scholars, mosque Imams will be launched to save people from its wrath.
As discussed earlier, majority of the SDPRD staff is native of the heartland of opium poppy cultivation region; therefore, door-to-door campaign will be the hallmark of our organization.
Urban:
Surprisingly, literate people including the student cadre are mostly being stuck in the quagmire of drug addiction, hence awareness among masses in urban areas is also focus of our attention. In order to educate people about the consequences of drug addiction following measures will be taken:
1.
Seminars and workshops.
2.
Meetings.
3.
Debates.
4.
Generating sports activities.
We provide
the last ray of hope to the addicts who are a curse on the society and are
rejected even by their nearer and dearer ones. As the Urdu word "Sehara
- Support" suggests a thorough and deliberate plan starting from
tracing the addicts from all walks of life to the ultimate stage of bringing
them back to the main stream. SDPRD is striving to achieve this objective
through following programme:
1.
Free medical treatment/admissions for addict therapy.
2.
Providing basic necessities of life like food, clothing, washing, and bathing
facilities.
3.
Individual/family counseling.
