Primary Education Programme:
Illiteracy is an insidious enemy that is more deadly than any poison. SDPRD, with its meager resources is making its best endeavours to fight against this enemy. Having surveyed the situation in toto, it has been found that the partially developed tehsils of Khyber Agency i.e., Bara, Jamrud and Landi Kotal do have primary schools but are mostly over crowded and the essence of imparting education through teacher-student interaction can not be achieved. Expansion of the available schools, hence, gets the foremost SDPRD's priority. The situation, however, in the upper Tirah (as indicated in the attached map) is extremely pathetic. At present, two schools are being run by SDPRD, one each in Kashrikata and Nakay having 60 and 180 children respectively. Each school is based on a shelter-less piece of ground and is being looked after by just one teacher. Obviously the present situation does not allow any expansion, for that will require additional teachers and buildings. Immediate funding is required to establish new schools to meet the challenge of the day and ever increasing population.
